Spire – first steps

SPIRE - FIRST STEPS

Have you just unboxed the printer and wonder where to begin?  With this quick manual you’ll finish your first print in no time.

PREPARING THE PRINTER

1.

Connent magnetic rods. Make sure every ball sits firm in it’s slot.

2.

Insert the end of PTFE tube into hotend body to the end.

3.

Secure the tube with red locking clip.

4.

Connect printhead cable, double check the orientation of the plug.

5.

Push the plug with moderate pressure.

6.

Apply a layer of glue to the glass platform.

7.

Lay the glass platform on heated bed, glued side up.

8.

Turn in until it clicks. Make sure all 3 points are in place.

9.

Put filament into PTFE liner and insert it through the hole in the top of the chamber.

10.

Squeeze extruder handles and insert filament until it shows on the other side.

11.

Insert PTFE liner into the hole in extruder.

12.

Put filament reel in the chamber looking at winding direction.

13.

Close filament chamber.

14.

Connect DC plug and switch the printer on.

CONNECTING THE PRINTER TO A WIFI NETWORK

1.

After switching on the printer is in Access Point mode and created a new network “DuetWiFi”. Connect to this network with a capable device.

2.

Start an internet browser (e.g. Chrome) and type in the following IP address: 192.168.1.1

3.

1. Select your target WiFi. 2. Enter correct password to this network. 3. Enter preferable name for your printer e.g. “myspire”. 4. Click save and reboot.

4.

Using power switch turn your printer off then back on.

5.

Connect to your WiFi network and type the following address: http://myspire.local

FIRST PRINT

1.

Heat up the print head by clicking Heater 1. The head will turn to “active” mode.

2.

Wait until the head reaches target temp. and click “Home All”.

3.

Load the filament by clicking “Load filament” from “macros” group.

4.

Remove the exxesive filament with pliers.

5.

Move to “Gcode files” tab and press the green button aside “firstPrint.gcode”.

6.

The printer will start working, finishing the print should take around 20 minutes.

7.

After finishing the print head moves up.

8.

Take out the glass platform and remove your first print with a spatula or knife.
